Sustainability at Vastint

We see sustainability as working towards positive long- term social, economic, and environmental solutions and developments. We consider it a never-ending job to learn more and continuously improve how to work with sustainability. That has been our way of thinking for many years now.

We integrate sustainability into our design at the earliest stage possible.

  • We try to minimise our construction impact. We calculate the impact of construction and the materials we use in our buildings (LCA calculation). We take the learnings from these calculations with us and try to improve our designs and materials for future projects.
  • We aim for net-zero (Paris Proof) aligned projects from the start. This means that none of our new projects should use non-renewable energy during operation and that all properties should meet a high energy-efficiency standard.

We are on a journey of continuous improvement.

  • All our existing buildings have a road map to reach net-zero emissions (Paris Proof). We use renewable electricity in all our properties. Where we have heating from non-renewable sources (e.g. natural gas or district heating), we plan to replace them with renewable alternatives.
  • We integrate BREEAM In Use assessments for all properties with long-term maintenance plans and capex budgets.
  • We continuously measure the energy performance of our properties. In the majority of our properties, we have several energy meters, which enable us to track energy consumption, optimise building installation settings and avoid unnecessary energy consumption.
  • We certify all our projects to ensure external standards and audits verify our sustainability claims.
